Lamar State College - Port Arthur Student Advising

Student Advising

The Advising office is dedicated to providing students with a high level of support to reach their educational goals. The advising staff provides students tools to be successful with advising, orientation, scholarships and course scheduling.

The office works very closely with and coordinates between other offices on campus to deliver successful educational careers for students.

The advising staff works with area high schools through "Go Centers" helping students understand college admissions and financial aid. The staff will help students with course selections, registration and TSI (Texas Success Initiative) requirements and questions regarding programs.

All new students and those that have not completed TSI requirements must be advised, however all students are encouraged to visit with an advisor.

The college also assigns faculty advisors to give each student additional support.

The Advising Office is located on the third floor of the Student Center Building. For further inquiries, contact the Advising Office at (409) 984-6186 or 1-800-477-5872 Ext. 6186.

IMPORTANT: MyLamarPA Computer Account

All students are required to maintain a MyLamarPA E-mail account. All students will be assigned an LSC-PA official E-mail address upon acceptance. Most of official communication from LSC-PA is conducted via E-mail. This includes information such as policy announcements, emergency notices, event notifications, financial aid information, tuition and fees, course availability/cancellation, course syllabi and requirements, and correspondence between faculty and students. LSC-PA recommends that all students check their E-mail at least once daily.
